INJECTIONS for migraines

A trigger point is basically a small area of tightly contracted muscle that can actually limit its own blood supply, which many irritate the nerves surrounding it. A small amount of a numbing substance is injected into the trigger point, or knot of muscle, to relieve the pain and tightness.

The Sphenopalatine Ganglion (SPG) is a group of nerve cells linked to one of the main nerves involved in headaches. The SPG is located behind the nose and carries the pain sensation. A SPG block is a safe and effective migraine treatment with a low risk rate. The pain relief is felt almost immediately but may take a few days to reach the full benefit.
