Laser Hair Removal

Looking for a more permanent alternative to shaving, waxing and plucking? Fast and effective, laser hair removal is the preferred solution for men and women who want to eliminate unwanted facial or body hair on all parts of the body.

Our premium Cutera Excel HR laser features two proven wavelengths – the 755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd:YAG – and superior contact cooling to comfortably remove unwanted hair on all skin types. The combination of these two wavelengths empowers the Pain West team to offer the most advanced hair removal available.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal utilizes infrared light to eliminate unwanted facial or body hair. The high-energy laser light safely targets the pigment in the hair follicle, converting to heat to destroy the follicle and prevent future hair growth without damaging the surrounding skin.

The laser is adjusted according to your skin color, hair color, thickness, and location of the hair. Our certified medical laser specialists use the state of the art Diode Ice Med Laser system, the latest and most effective laser technology.

What Areas Are Ideal?

Hair removal is effective for eliminating hair on all parts of the body, except for around the eyes. The most common treatment areas for men and women are:

Face, Legs, Arms, Underarms, Bikini line, Abdomen, Back, Chest, Lips, and Ears

What Does It Feel Like?

There may be very mild discomfort. Most people will feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation when the light pulses are emitted — similar to a rubber band snapping against your skin. Some areas of the body are also more sensitive than others.

How Long Does A Session Last?

It depends on the size of the treatment area. One laser hair removal treatment can take from a few minutes to hours. This treatment requires no downtime, so you can return to your daily activities immediately follow your session.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Hair grows in cycles — some hair follicles are actively in a growth phase, while others are resting. Every four weeks or so, new hair will enter the growth phase. Laser hair removal only eliminates hair in its growth stage. Multiple treatments are necessary to ensure that all hair is treated.

Your medical laser specialist will help you create a custom plan based on your hair color, skin type and target treatment area. For best results, we recommend a series of 6 laser hair removal treatment sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart. Most people will need a touch-up session annually to maintain improvement.

What Should I expect After My Treatment?

Slight redness and swelling will occur (a condition called folliculitis), which usually dissipates in a few hours. The treated hair will fall out anytime from 3-14 days after your laser hair removal session, leaving you with smoother skin until your next growth cycle. After each additional session, you’ll realize a reduction in the number of hairs in the treated area, with the hair becoming finer and lighter.

What are the benefits?

Laser hair removal causes permanent hair reduction. You will have less hair after each treatment, plus it will reduce the number of ingrown hairs and help prevent razor bumps, burns, and irritations. The hair in the treated area will also become very fine and lighter in color. The ultimate benefit? Smoother skin.

Do I need to do anything special before being treated?

For optimal results, do not bleach, wax or tweeze hairs 2-4 weeks before laser hair removal treatment. The hair must be present — a very short stubble — with its natural hair color to be treated effectively. Avoid sun exposure, tanning and the use of sunless tanners. Arrive to your appointment with the area to be treated clean, freshly shaved, and free of product (all makeup and lotion).

Is Laser Hair Removal effective for all skin types and hair color?

Multicare uses a state-of-the-art Cutera Excel HR dual wave laser which allows use to treat a wide range of skin and hair types. Because the hair needs pigmentation for the treatment to be effective, blonde/red hair are more resistant and white/grey hair will not respond to laser hair removal.

What is the minimum age?

We strongly advise waiting until puberty after puberty since the body goes through hormonal changes that can cause re-growth. Parental consent is required for laser hair removal treatment for ages 13-17.

Laser Genesis

We know patients are looking for the best, most versatile laser skin treatments to treat a wide array of skin concerns. Laser Genesis offers effective skin rejuvenation without the need for downtime, leaving only smooth, revitalized skin.

We believe that Laser Genesis is one of the best ways to achieve your skincare goals with only a few easy treatments. This non-invasive treatment is highly effective for pigmentation, scarring, wrinkles, and a wide array of conditions that can affect the skin’s tone, appearance, and texture. To see how Laser Genesis can augment your skincare routine, contact us today.

What is Laser Genesis?
Laser Genesis treatment is a non-ablative Nd:YAG laser system that generates heat. This method can both kill acne-causing bacteria on top of the skin, as well as boost collagen growth within the skin. This increased collagen production can restore volume and enhance the skin’s cell turnover rate, meaning new, healthy cells can replace ones that are damaged or pigmented.

What can Laser Genesis treat?
Laser Genesis treatment can be highly beneficial to any skin condition that is the result of uneven, pigmented, or decreased collagen production and skin cell growth. The most common of these include:

Acne scarring
Rosacea
Age Spots
Wrinkles
Acne

Laser Genesis is an effective treatment option for most skin types, unlike ablative laser treatments or professional peels. It can also greatly benefit patients who struggle with active and inflammatory acne as part of an anti-acne skin routine.

What can I expect with Laser Genesis?
We generally recommend that patients undergo a series of treatments for best results. The number of treatments and frequency can depend on your unique skin concerns, but our board-certified dermatologists will create the best treatment package for you that might include additional skincare treatments and an at-home regimen to augment and maintain your results.

Most patients notice their best results around six months after treatment because of the skin’s natural growth cycle. Depending on your unique skin concerns, you may require touch-up treatments to maintain a smooth and even skin tone. You will be able to return to your normal schedule immediately after treatment with only minor, temporary redness at the treatment area.

Laser Vein Therapy

Redness and spider veins might be keeping you from appreciating the natural beauty of your skin and legs. At our clinic, the latest advances in laser technology provide state-of-the-art treatments that are safer, faster, and more effective than previous treatment options. A high-tech laser vein removal treatment can give you more beautiful skin with minimal to no downtime or bruising.

Spider Veins
Spider veins occur as a result of a number of factors including heredity, sun damage, and skin conditions like rosacea. Laser therapy is a proven option for treating unsightly broken and dilated blood vessels, as well as other unwanted vascular lesions, such as port wine stains and reddish birthmarks.

About our laser
The Cutera Excel combines the ideal laser wavelength with the most flexible parameters to deliver a superior vascular laser system. It treats a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light, or tanned skin can experience outstanding results with minimal bruising or blistering.

Who can be treated?
The laser’s unique design and long wavelength allow it to treat patients of all skin tones. It is even FDA approved for tanned skin; however, sun exposure during treatment phase is not advised.

Do treatments hurt?
Most laser therapy patients report little discomfort. Some experience a mild burning sensation when the laser pulses are administered, however, the use of a cooling device provides a comfortable experience.

What happens after the treatment?
Following your treatment, we encourage you to resume normal activities immediately but ask you to refrain from taking hot baths or vigorous activities for the first 48 hours. We recommend you wear compression stockings for the first 3 days after treatments to help keep pressure on the veins.

Photo Facial / Cutera Limelight

What is the LimeLight Facial?
The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation using Cutera’s LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage. This includes age spots, lentigo, and sun damage, as well as birthmarks and freckles. The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck, and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins), or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.

What can I expect during treatments?
Your practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect. When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation.

Gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments. Anesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required. Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour. One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun damaged skin.

What can I expect from the results?
Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness. Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve.

New brown spots, telangiectasia, and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however, they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved.

IV Therapy

IV Nutrition Therapy
Do you always experience exhaustion and feel nothing helps to give you that push of energy you need to go about your day? Are you prone to illness or feel as though you are not getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need for optimum health? Or, are you just simply looking for preventative care to staying healthy? Good news! IV nutritional therapy may be just for you to help you achieve your health goals! The blend of vitamins and nutrients from a IV nutritional therapy session can help you feel energized and calm as you deal with the stressors in life, help your body shake off that feeling of exhaustion, and help you absorb the recommended amount of nutrients your body needs sufficiently without chewing and digesting food. IV nutritional therapy, has been use for decades in hospitals but is increasingly being offered in private clinics to treat an array of medical conditions from nutrient-deprivation absorption disorders to dehydration. Are you convinced? Give IV nutritional therapy a try so you won’t miss out on how this can boost your health to above optimal levels.

What is IV Nutritional Therapy?

IV Nutritional Therapy, also known as parenteral nutrition involves infusing amino acids, electrolytes, minerals, nutrients, fluid, and vitamins directly into patient’s veins. It is used for patients whose absorption of food and of fluids are inadequate, inaccessible, or unsafe. Sine your digestive system is limited in the absorption process, oral intake of high doses of nutrients is not possible. So, you can receive the full benefits of absorbing essential vitamins and nutrients without taking the time to chew, swallow and taste unpalatable boatloads of supplements. (1)

How does IV Nutrition Therapy work?

The intravenous procedure consists of infusions (pressure supplied by gravity), which are known as “drips” and injections (higher pressures with a syringe). IV nutritional therapy is the fastest route to deliver nutrients throughout the bloodstream to distribute to the rest of the body. The nutritious concoction is slowly administered via a small needle to the patient’s vein for over 20-30 minute (2). During the session, the patient can listen to music, relax, read, and let the healing take place. The therapy is usually done 1-2 times per week and the beneficial effects are usually noticed by the third or fourth visit. Many who experience chronic conditions continue to use IV therapy every 1-4 weeks of when they feel their energy tanking. It’s like pampering your organs and cells to a nutritional spa treatment! (3,4)

Different IV Nutritional Therapies

There are different IV nutritional therapy procedures, depending on what your health goals are. If you are looking for a quick energy boost or a fast defense for the cold and flu season, read on. Your ticket to health is imbedded in one of these interesting blends:

Myer’s Cocktail

Myer’s Cocktail, named from the late John Myers, MD, is a type of IV nutritional therapy where the infusion consists of vitamins known to enhance the immune system and improve athletic performance. It works by increasing circulation of blood to distribute several essential minerals and vitamins beyond that which can be accomplished when taking supplements orally. Other conditions that responded well were migraines, fatigue, cardiovascular disease, acute asthma, fibromyalgia, seasonal allergies, acute muscle spasms, upper respiratory tract infections, and chronic sinusitis (5). All of these health benefits jammed pack into a small needle!

Glutathione

People spend a lot of money looking and feeling young. Glutathione, maybe just the trick for you to accomplish your beauty goals! Glutathione, is a powerful antioxidant and considered “The fountain of youth” due to it’s anti-aging properties. It’s more than just for beautiful skin. Glutathione also has other life-saving properties it can offer for you! IV glutathione has been used to improve blood flow, in the treatment of diabetes, and prevent toxic side effects of chemotherapy and to prevent anemia in patients going through dialysis, kidney conditions, and treating Parkinson’s disease (6).

Chelation

We feel the effects of being exposed to toxins and heavy metals on a daily basis by feeling tired, experiencing memory loss, muscle pains, autoimmune disease, and gastrointestinal and skin concerns. IV chelation therapy, involves removing heavy metals from the blood by using intravenous injections of chelating agent and synthetic amino acid, EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid). EDTA binds to heavy metals and both move to kidneys to be removed through urine. Chelation therapy has been known to treat Alzheimer’s disease, peripheral vascular disease, Lou Gherig’s disease, autism, and to detox the body overall.

Now, you know about all the benefits of IV nutritional therapy and the many forms, try it out for yourself so you will miss out on these life-saving benefits! (7,8)

Nutritional Therapy vs Supplements

Did you know that the details of vitamins and minerals on a supplement label are likely inaccurate? It gets even more startling. Supplements, are not regulated by the FDA so no inspection (unless proved to be hazardous) is in place to see if you are receiving the recommended amount! From protein powders to capsules, you do not truly know what you are actually getting, or how well these are working. That’s not all! Majority of vitamins and minerals in a supplement bottle are destroyed by cooking, heat, light, and oxygen. On top of being destroyed by environmental insults, other factors that prevent your body’s ability to absorb contents in supplements are malabsorption diseases, dietary beliefs, coffee, alcohol, medications, and even certain foods. As a result of consuming supplements, you are getting less than half of the amount of intended dose for you to absorb so your body can perform many functions to keep it going. Fortunately, IV nutritional therapy is a way to get the exact vitamins your cells need for to staying healthy. Vitamins and nutrients are infused directly into your veins and bypass the chewing and swallowing process and the gut. As a result, you are absorbing 100% of this nutritious concoction without you worrying about missing out on the benefits (9).

IV nutritional therapy, can provide quick improvement and relief from a large array of medical conditions. While supplements can be effective, there is the possibility of certain vitamins and minerals (B vitamins, vitamin C, glutathione, etc.) are being absorbed poorly in the gastrointestinal tract. Results after intravenous therapy can be seen almost rapidly whereas supplements may take while for you to notice changes (9).

Safety

The question that’s pondering everyone’s mind is “Is IV nutritional therapy safe?”. IV nutritional therapy is very effective and generally safe when administered by a trained practitioner.

Majority of patients, can tolerate most IV nutritional therapies. However, there certain medical conditions were IV nutritional therapy is contraindicated. An individual may have an allergy to a nutrient and therefore should not receive infusions containing that nutrient. In addition, kidney or heart disease or high blood pressure may prevent the use of some of the nutrients. Lastly, those diagnosed with G6PD deficiency can’t receive IV Vitamin C (11,12).

Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UBI)

(UBI) Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation
Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UBI) is a procedure that exposes the blood to light to heighten the body’s immune response and to kill infections. With exposure to UV light, bacteria and viruses in your bloodstream absorb five times as much photonic energy as do your red and white blood cells.

This means the fragments of the killed infecting agents create a safe, autogenous vaccination-like response. This further activates and directs your immune system to the specific infections your body is attempting to overcome. The net result is the induction of a secondary kill of these infecting agents throughout the entire body. Treating only 35 cc of blood with UBI induces a beneficial systemic response.

The amount of treatment needed is determined by variables such as the state of health of the patient’s immune system, length of time the patient has been ill, and the severity of the disease being treated. UBI can be used clinically as both a SPECIFIC (i.e. psoriasis, lymph cancer) and NON-SPECIFIC (chronic infections, chronic fatigue, auto-immune diseases, etc.) immune modulating therapy, as noted in published studies.

(UBI) Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation Benefits

– Heightens the body’s immune response
– Powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-infection effects
– Improves circulation
– Oxygenation of tissues
– Balancing effect (homeostasis)
– Reduction of tissue pain
– Increased immune and pain tolerance to radiation or chemotherapy
– Cardiovascular protection through increased metabolism of cholesterol, uric acid, and glucose
– Stimulation for production of red blood cells
– Improvement in the flow and properties of the blood
